Matthew Baker -Founder

The Way of the Mystic Wizard evolved from a course taught by Matthew Baker, the author of The Way of the Mystic Wizard and the Founding Head of the College and The Order of Mystic-Wizards. The course was titled Poetry, Myth, Magic and the Art of Transformation.

Matthew taught this course as a quest for the sacred hallows at his art school for 25 years before he retired in 2022. Several years before he retired, he began to adapt the course for the adult population. This is how the book The Way of the Mystic-Wizard came into being. During that adaptation process, he also created the Institute for Non-Dual Shamanism and, through various workshops, he attracted a core group of practitioners. This core group is called the NDS working group. NDS still acts as the active esoteric working group for the Way of the Mystic-Wizard.

About Our Order

NDS has been going on the quest for the hallows since 2017, each year being a new round and a deeper expedition into the inner world. The maps and information in the book and on the website come from this collective effort. The group has made contact with the inner Ancient Ones of this lineage, and they have guided and helped all members of the group grow and substantially transform their lives. The group recently entered the teacher training stage with Matthew Baker.

Eventually NDS members met others that had found their way into the lineage via the book. These new Mystic-Wizards needed a container such as a college to hold the growth and change taking place on their own journeys. Thus, the College and the Order was born, and with it, the maturation of the Way of the Mystic-Wizard continues. Today members of the NDS working group are in Teaching training so as to assist with the growth of the order and college in the years to come.
